Travel with her across Alaska\, California\, Mexico\, Honduras\, and beyond\, encountering animals and plants in their native habitats. \n \nFrom navigating icebergs while studying common eiders in Alaska\, to witnessing the apparent demise of a humpback whale on the Baja Peninsula\, trail running with ibex in the Alps\, and contemplating octopuses in a Cretan museum\, Lyons weaves together scientific insight and awe-inspiring observation. Along the way\, she explores the intelligence\, creativity\, and beauty of the natural world and reflects on the urgent reality of its shrinking biodiversity. \n \nDiscover how these stories illuminate the intricate connections between humans and our nonhuman neighbors\, and leave inspired to see the world with fresh curiosity and care. \n \nDoors open at 6:30pm. The presentation starts at 7:00pm. \n \n*The event is FREE\, but space is limited\, and registration is required. For those unable to attend in person\, the talk will be live-streamed on our YouTube Channel. \n\n\n\nBridget A. Lyons is a writer\, editor\, artist\, and explorer whose work celebrates the creativity and diversity of the natural world. She currently lives in Santa Cruz\, CA\, where she surfs with sea otters\, runs through redwood forests\, swims with sea lions\, and observes the local coastline daily. \n \nBefore moving to the coast\, she lived in Teton Valley\, ID\, and worked as an itinerant outdoor education instructor around the world. She now primarily collaborates with other writers\, helping shape ideas into polished manuscripts. \n \nBridget holds an undergraduate degree from Harvard and an MFA in Creative Writing from Northern Arizona University\, speaks Spanish and French\, and is devoted to connecting with the natural world—animals\, plants\, fungi\, rivers\, and oceans—while avoiding devices whenever possible.
